The Kingdom Netherlands is an exhibiting country the European Union . Monetary unit - euro - to equal 100 eurocents.
Till January, 28th, 2002 guldens - to equal 100 cents were cash token moneys of the Netherlands. A nominal number of the native currency of the Netherlands has been presented by notes of denomination of 10, 25, 50, 100, 250 and 1000 guldens.
The Gulden from XII century addressed in the form of a gold and silver coin in the Netherlands and a number of other European states. In 1816 in the Netherlands the monetary system on the basis of bimetallism with the contents in 1 gulden of pure gold of 0,6048 g and 9,613 g of a fine silver has been entered. With 1847 on 1875 g the silver standard acted; in June, 1875 the gold coin standard with a gulden gold content in 0,6048 g of pure gold has been positioned. Till 1875 the gulden was divided into 20 stewers and 320 pfennings, then - on 100 cents.
In 1933-1936 the Netherlands was included into the Gold block headed by France. In September, 1936 withdrawal of gold has been forbidden, then the gulden rate has started to drop. In March, 1940 revaluation of gold reserves of the country on the basis of a gulden gold content is manufactured. From July till October, 1945 old token moneys, except coins, have been replaced new on a parity 1:1, the exchange sum was limited to 110 guldens on one person.
Since April, 24th, 1972 the Netherlands participated in system of the limited limits of fluctuations of the mutual rates of exchange of member countries of "Common market"; since March, 13th, 1979 have entered into the European currency system.
At the moment of euro introduction in the Netherlands - old, with the nature plotting (notes notes of two series addressed to 50, 100 and 250 guldens), and new - with abstract compositions (10, 25, 100 and 1000 guldens).
