Republic Liberia Monetary unit is the dollar which consists of 100 cents. In the cash circulation there are coins in nominal value 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents and 1, 5, 10 dollars.

In 1937 in Liberia coins of denomination 1/2, 1 and 2 cents have been manufactured. Since 1960 to them nominal values of coins 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents were added. Next year in the circulation there was a coin $1. The coin in five dollars was manufactured in 1982 and 1985. According to the Standard catalogue of coins of the world of 2009 (Krause Publications) during the period since 1970 on the present in Liberia produce numerous memorable coins (with portraits of US presidents, the plotting of dinosaurs, animal etc.) nominal value from 1 to 2500 dollars.

On an obverse of a coin in nominal value of 5 cents of the sample of 1977 the elephant is represented and the inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA is seated, the reverse contains an inscription THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The Face side of a coin of the same dignity, but the sample of 2000 is decorated by the State Emblem of the country consisting of the plotting of an oil palm tree, a rising sun and a sailing vessel on which on coast of Liberia the first immigrants from the USA have come, and an inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, and the plotting of a dragon is on the back seated.
