Republic Cuba Monetary unit is peso which consists from 100 centavo. In monetary circulation there are coins of denomination 1, 2, 5 both 20 centavo and 1 both 3 peso and convertible 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavo and 1 peso.

In 1962 on Cuba Copper-Nickel coins 20 and 40 centavo, and then in 1963 aluminium 1 and 5 centavo have been entered. In 1969 have manufactured aluminium coins 20 centavo, and then aluminium 2 centavo and brass 1 peso in 1983. Coins from a Copper-Nickel 3 peso have been entered into the circulation in 1990, from a brass-plated steel 1 peso and a Nickel-plated steel 3 peso in 1992. Coins 40 centavo have been withdrawn from circulation in July 2004 and not accepted any more as payment. Now in circulation there are coins 1, 2, 5 both 20 centavo and 1 and 3 peso.

During the period between 1981 and 1989 years the National institute of tourism ("INTUR") has manufactured a series of coins "Visitors Coinage" for use by tourists. In 1981 Copper-Nickel coins 5, 10, 25 both 50 centavo and 1 peso, and then in 1988 aluminium 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 centavo have been entered. Coins "Visitors Coinage" are introduced from the circulation on October, 15th, 2001, and 5, 10, 25, 50 centavo and 1 peso, rapped out in Canada have been replaced by convertible peso in nominal values 1.
