Republic Haiti Monetary unit is the gourde which consists of 100 centimes. In a money turnover there are coins of denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50 centimes and 1, 5 gourdes.

The First issue of coins in Haiti consisted of 6, 12 and 25 centimes. In 1827 coins of 50 and 100 centimes, and then 1 and 2 centimes in 1828 have been entered. In 1846 and 1850, 6 1/4 centimes and new 6 centimes, accordingly have been manufactured a coin. In 1863, bronze coins, productions of a mint the Tunic of Birmingham, have been entered into the circulation. It were coins of denomination in 5, 10 and 20 centimes - last of the first series of coins of gourde.

In 1881 new issue of coins in nominal value 1, 2, 10, 20 and 50 centimes and 1 gourde has taken place. The coin of 5 centimes has been added in 1889. Production of coins 1 and 2 centimes has ceased in the middle of 1890th years while input in circulation of coins was absent with 1908 till 1949 while coins of 5 and 10 centimes did not begin to mint again. Them have followed a coin of 20 centimes in 1956, a coin of 50 centimes in 1972 and coins of 1 and 5 gourdes in 1995.
