Monetary unit of the Falkland (Malvinas) islands is the pound which is equal 100 pence. In the cash circulation there are coins in nominal value 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 pence and 1, 2 pounds.

All coins of the Falkland islands are produced of different metals: bronze (1 penny); a steel plated by copper (2 pence); a Copper-Nickel (5, 10 and 20 pence); a nikelevo-brass alloy (1 pound).

On an obverse of all coins the portrait of queen Elizabeth II, and also an inscription QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND is seated. The Back of coins of different nominal values differs. So, on a reverse of a coin of denomination 1 pennies are represented two penguins, a digital designation of nominal value and the text FALKLAND ISLANDS; on a reverse of 2 pence - big magellan goose in flight, a designation of nominal value and an inscription FALKLAND ISLANDS; on the back of 5 pence - a black-brown albatross, nominal value figure, the same inscription, as well as on the previous coins; on 10 pence - family of marine lions, a nominal value designation, an inscription; on 20 pence - a house sheep of breed a romni-march, nominal value figure, an inscription; on 1 pound - the country arms, a nominal value designation, an inscription.
